SMX Advanced: Social media and Twitter

I have spent the morning in two social media sessions. The number of platforms for sharing information is still pretty concentrated: Twitter, Facebook, Digg, StumbleUpon, delicious, and Reddit. Note how similar this list would have looked one year ago, which is forever in this segment of online marketing. What has changed dramatically is the number of tools to make better use of these social media platforms, particularly Twitter. If the number of tools and the variety of tool functions is any indication, the Twitterverse expansion is still very much in its Big Bang phase. Twitter is largely dominating the social media conversation among online marketers. One of many Twitter tool lists.

Notably not getting much mention? Myspace. Has it jumped the shark? Judging by the mentions so far at SMX Advanced, the answer would be a consensus “yes.”
